“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven.” Ecc. 3:1. Few years ago, a burning desire in our hearts to see a monk coming to the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ was innocently incubated in our hearts. So we desperately prayed and ask the Lord for the answer.
Couple of months ago, a young Buddhist monk and Pali language teacher named Karana (29 years old) boldly came in our house-church asking if he could study Bible with us. Without hesitation, we accepted his request.
After a month of studying the Bible with us, he decided to get out of monkshood, returned to his hometown and bid good bye to his family and friends. He came back to Poipet and stayed with us. We continually taught the Word of God
to him until one day, he finally accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Oh “joy is in heaven over one sinner that repents…” Luke 15:7. Praise the Lord! It’s quite interesting that he has so many questions in mind considering his life like a caterpillar that just got out of the cocoon and now becomes a butterfly! It’s important to assure a Buddhist that having a relationship with Christ is not changing our nationality and culture.
While staying with us for a week, his mom passed away that prompted him to go back home again. But after the burial he returns back and continued our discipleship training. However, his oldest brother called him to work in Thailand. It was a hard decision for him to follow his brother out of respect. He is now far from us but the Lord made a way not to loss our communication with him. He plans to be back next year and serve the Lord Jesus Christ full time. We appreciate your prayers for him.
To God be all the glory!
